Response to NRA’s America’s 1st Freedom Cover Story on LCAV

In the March 2010 issue of America’s 1st Freedom, the National Rifle Association published a cover story on the work and effectiveness of Legal Community Against Violence.  Although the article is largely factually accurate in terms of LCAV’s history, mission and accomplishments, it incorrectly characterizes LCAV’s work as “anti-self-defense” and wrongly claims that LCAV seeks to “shred” gun owners’ rights.

On March 11, 2010, LCAV’s leadership wrote a letter to the editor of America’s 1st Freedom, setting the record straight in terms of who LCAV represents and what the organization’s work seeks to accomplish: stopping gun violence, not imperiling gun ownership.
